Top Web2.0/Digg-Like Hot Deals Sites

Hot deals sites are a dime a dozen today as I wrote in my last entry. Some hot deals sites are trying to bring web2.0, digg-like and social networking concepts to their sites. Some of these sites use pligg and some don’t. Some of these sites use ajax and some don’t. Some of these sites fail and some succeed.
Here’s a list of the top Web2.0/Digg-Like Hot Deals Sites.
6. CrispyNews
This site has a very simple and clean layout. Maybe, a little too clean and too much whitespace. Each posting needs to show how many diggs or votes each posting has gotten. The deals that get posted are average.
5. Dealspl.us
Dealsp.us is cofounded by Ben of Bensbargains. With the reach he gets from bensbargains I’m sure he’ll be able to get some users over there. I home page is by default set to the grid view, which I despies, but you can change it to the list view easily.
4. DealCritic
DealCritics gets most of their deals from dealnews, bensbargains, woot and delight deals (It says so on their about page). Because of this their deal postings are up to date and pretty good.
3. Dealplumber
The site looks great, but so far the deals have been average. Dealplumber has a policy that allows anyone to post their own affiliate linked deals. It’s a interesting idea and I wonder if this will translate to high quality deals.
The original. Digg has their own Digg Tech Deals section. Some of the posts are not exactly hot deal though, but simply stories related to tech deals. For example, I saw a “Why Google Bought Youtube” posting the other day. There’s no problem with this, in fact, I thought the article was interesting. But since it’s not just hot deals postings, I’m placing it number 2. I’ll probably get flamed by diggers for putting them at number 2, but it’s this man’s opinion.
1. Dealigg
Taken from the hompage: Dealigg is a Web 2.0 community where members find and vote for the latest deals, coupons and bargains. Dealigg is based on pligg. Dealigg is obviously a play on the word digg. I’ve found some good deals on this site already.
Take note, since most of these sites are relatively new the quality of the deal postings sometimes aren’t there. You can add as many bells and whistles to a site as you like, but good deals and a great community is what matters in the end. Nevertheless, these sites definitely have the potential to succeed.
I wish these sites the best of luck to becoming successful. Of course, digg doesn’t need it :).
I know there are going to be lots of different opinions, so you can vote for own favorite hot deals web 2.0 site.
