Top 10 Hot Deals Sites

While building tongueroo.com I had plenty of opportunity to research hot deals sites. It is amazing just how many hot deals sites exist. Today, hot deals websites are a dime a dozen. However, quantity does not translate into quality. When visiting a hot deals site it is understandable to see affiliate ads and links; that’s how these sites stay in business. However, sometimes they go overboard and their layouts become overcrowded with ads. Also, some sites have lots of postings but they seem to rarely check on the deals they post. There would be comments saying that the deal has expired, but the headline doesn’t get updated.
So, here’s the list of what I think are the best hot deals websites out there. Read on and see if you are already using some of these sites. Maybe, you’ll even find out about a new site.
10. xpBargains
This site suffers from crowded layout syndrome. The front page is also huge. There are too many deals on the front page. However, deals on the site are up to date and I sometimes find good deals in there.
9. DealCatcher
The layout is cleaner than xpBargains thanks to good use of whitespace.
8. Bensbargains
This website was created by a guy named Ben who attended UC Berkely. The layout is simple and too the point. The click here links that take you directly to the product page are helpful. Ben’s site has a lots of great coupons and deals, but sometimes the kitcten supplies and coffemaker postings annoy me.
7. Techbargains
Techbargains is one of the best known hot deals site. It’s been around for a while and way before the newer hot deals sites. Techbargains is managed by two guys from New York. The front page is somewhat overwhelming and has too many things going on. There are lots of deal posts though.
6. GottaDeal
GottaDeal is very organized and has a good three column layout. I find myself visiting this site more and more often and decided to move it up the list.
Even though dealnews has a three column layout, it is not too overcrowded to the point of annoyance. Dealnews’ dealmac associate site is the place to go if you need a deal on anything specific to mac.
Anandtech isn’t really a hot deals site, it’s a tech hardware reviews site. But the hot deals forums section at Anandtech is one of the most active around and the anandtech members are both knowledgable and helpful.
3. Spoofee
Spoofee has a clean layout. The deals on the front page are good and they do not try and post a huge amount of deals in one day so the quality of the tech deals seem to be higher.
2. Fatwallet
One of the main reasons fatwallet is ranked so high is their cashback system. Fatwallet provides a great service by sharing the affliate commission with their users. The bright green theme on their home page is hard too look at, but lucky most of the time is spent on their forums where you don’t have to see it. The members in their forums are very active and helpful.
1. Slickdeals
Slickdeals beta recently just went live, and I really like the new design. Going from the traditional 3 column layout to the much cleaner 2 column layout was a great design decision. Slickdeals is one of the quickest to update expired deals, so your time is not wasted clicking on an expired deal.
